Welcome to the SOAR program at Midwestern State University! SOAR stands for Scholarship Opportunities for Academic Recognition, and is funded by the National Science Foundation to provide scholarships for academically qualified students that demonstrate financial need, and who choose to study a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) field at Midwestern State University. These scholarships will greatly reduce the cost of attending college for those students accepted into the program. Once accepted, each scholar will receive dedicated support by faculty, staff, and fellow students to ease their transition into college life and ensure that they graduate into a productive and rewarding career in STEM.

Below you will find the application requirements and the online application. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply. We especially welcome applications from individuals traditionally underrepresented in STEM, such as first-generation college students, females, and minority students. The actual award amount will vary among individuals based upon need, but will average approximately $5800 per year. The SOAR team is excited to provide this opportunity to deserving young people, and we anticipate hearing from you!
