An MBA with a Mission

The Dillard College of Business Administration Master of Business Administration prepares individuals for professional career opportunities in today’s dynamic, challenging, and complex world of global business. The MBA program equips its graduates with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to achieve their professional business goals and objectives. The MBA degree is especially valuable for individuals who want to advance their careers through leadership opportunities within a broad range of organizations.

To attain its mission, the graduate faculty within the Dillard College of Business Administration believes that the MBA Program must lead to the achievement of the following objectives. Each graduate student, in pursuing an MBA degree at MSU, will

  1. Exhibit the characteristics of leadership
  2. Be able to conduct themselves professionally in global environments
  3. Produce creative responses to business situations
  4. Integrate knowledge across business disciplines
  5. Communicate at professional level

The MBA is a thirty-three hour (twenty-four hours for required courses and nine hours for electives), non-thesis program that is generally completed in one to two years. The required courses include cost analysis, applied statistics, managerial economics, finance, IT management, organizational behavior, marketing and a capstone course in business strategy.

Is Your MBA Important?

Your MBA puts you ahead!  MBA graduates earn invaluable professional experience. During your MBA, you will not only review and study business theories and practices, but will learn how to recognize and investigate today’s real world opportunities and threats. Further, you will identify creative and viable actions to capitalize on today’s world conditions. Students use case studies, take part in industry applications, and learn from business professionals. These in-course experiences will easily translate to years of experience which can lead to organizational success and rapid career advancement.

The Dillard College MBA is Flexible

The core MBA courses are offered twice a year-once in a face-to-face (on campus) format and once entirely on line. It’s your choice how you want to take the classes. Many classes are offered using a hybrid or flipped classroom format and more elective courses are coming online. Students can complete their MBA without stepping on campus. This is a great option for those who may be transferred or reassigned at some point in their graduate program. No hours will be lost!

The MBA is Affordable

Total instate tuition and fees for your MBA are projected to be $11,075 and out-of-state tuition and fees are projected to be $13,219!  A degree earned completely online costs around $12,500. This is one of the most affordable MBAs in the nation. For more information on tuition and fee calculation please see the University’s Tuition and Fee Calculator.

If You Don’t Have a Business Degree

Your non-business degree is not an obstacle! A six-hour online leveling course (BUAD 5006) covers the necessary professional business core concepts. The course is offered online every semester.

What about Prerequisites?

Applicants with undergraduate business degrees in most cases have already completed the required common business knowledge core.

Two Concentrations are Available

Accounting - The MBA with an Accounting concentration prepares graduates for a broad range of career options and advancement opportunities as well as provides them with the optimal required 150-hour educational preparation for the CPA Exam.
