Dr. Susan B. Anders, Ph.D., CPA, CGMA
Louis J. and Ramona Rodriguez Distinguished Professor of Accounting
Ph.D. in Tax Accounting from Texas Tech University
Susan B. Anders received her Ph.D. in Tax Accounting from Texas Tech University and is a Certified Public Accountant in Texas and New York. She is the Louis J. and Ramona Rodriguez Distinguished Professor of Accounting at the Dillard College of Business at Midwestern State University. Susan has been elected to serve as an officer on the Wichita Falls Chapter of the TXCPA board of directors since 2016.
Dr. Anders is a prolific writer on the subject of Accounting, Taxation, and Technology. She has written over 250 journal articles for The CPA Journal. As the technology columnist for the Journal, her articles provide her fellow CPAs with information on current issues in Accounting. Her articles cover such topics as free online accounting resources, cybersecurity resources, tax reform resources, nonprofit accounting resources, to name a few.
Dr. Anders's other research activities focus on taking an in-depth look at issues that tax professionals face each year. She conducts an annual research study on these issues, including a survey of New York CPAs about their tax software use and their attitudes about the top available tax software. Her annual Tax Software Survey articles are often selected for "top billing" and "most read "status on accounting newsletters and online journals.
Dr. Anders teaches Federal Income Tax I and II, Financial Accounting, Graduate Federal Tax Research, and trains Dillard College accounting students to participate in the United Way's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. This program provides free tax preparation to the community and is an excellent way for students to be involved in service-learning activities.
As a first-generation college student herself, Dr. Anders enjoys teaching as her "ministry" to help prepare students for their future professional careers. Her hobbies include doing research and writing (she loves it)! Even when she is not researching "serious" matters, she enjoys "surfing the net" and watching YouTube videos on anything trivial. She collects pink piggy banks (for financial literacy) and yellow ducks (for smiles).
